Ok so i believe in gay rights and i want to speak up but I’m afraid people will be jerks about it and call me a fag or whatever. I see people protesting against it everyday but i want to protest toward it, but I’m only 12 so i cant do something sooo big. Can anyone please help? And if any of you are gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Please let me know. Cause i think all of you must have rights. People can’t turn feelings off and on just like you guys and girls. No one knows why they like the same or opasite sex so…. Fight the power!

First things first – don’t worry about what other people think. You are standing up for a cause you believe in, and the people who hurt you don’t matter. The people who do matter won’t hurt you.
As for what you can do as a 12 year-old, see if your school has a GSA. If not, try to start one. This is a great place to stand up for the rights of homosexuals, because it is a gay-straight alliance – anyone can come! Also, in a GSA, you can plan lots of things, like participating in the National Day of Silence, a day that occured last Friday where high school students, and some middle school students didn’t say a word throughout the school day to represent how gays have to keep their sexuality quiet to stay safe from homophobia.
I was in a similar situation to you a little while’s ago. It helped that I made a friend with two moms who completely supported me (and dragged me) whenever another opportunity to help homosexuals came around. I have had friends ask me if I was a lesbian, but it was always mild curiousity, and no one has treated me poorly for supporting homosexuals.
