When it comes to my parents friends, etc. I don't waste my time. They are in their late 50's, and there is no changing what they so stubbornly believe. When it is a kid or somebody who still has time to impact the beliefs of others, I feel it my responsibility to.... enlighten (?) them. When I see a homophobic kid, I feel like their is still time. They will have kids and go to school with other impressionable adolescents, and don't want the hate to spread. With a stubborn adult, it is usually consequential. G. Especially when it comes to your parents, you will never be able to educate them. Sadly, it's just not in the cards. Your other option, walking away, is your best bet.
